Sharon Lynn Melton

Sharon Lynn Melton, 71, of Staunton, Illinois, passed away, unexpectedly on Wednesday, October 28, 2026, at her home in Staunton. Sharon was born on June 28, 1955, in Alton, Illinois to Edward and Henrietta Hilmes. Sharon attended St. Micheal school in Staunton and graduated from Staunton high school in 1973. She enjoyed crocheting blankets. She worked in food service her whole live starting at A&W in high school, and then Harold's place and R&B'S before retiring from Lake Williamson in 2020. She enjoyed spending time with her friends and neighbors and visiting her grandchildren.

Sharon was preceded in death by her parents, infant son Ronald Melton, son in law James Steward, son in law Christopher Triplett, and her beloved dog Watson.

She is survived by her daughters Sandra Steward of Chandler Arizona and Cynthia Triplett of Lacon, Illinois; grandchildren Elyana, James, Jayla Steward, and grandsons Thomas and Ferrel Triplett; her brother Edward (Susan) Hilmes of Arizona; niece Brittney Hilmes, from Texas, and many cousins and friends.

Sharon's wishes were to be cremated and laid to rest by her parents in Staunton, Illinois. A celebration of life will follow at a later date.
